My name is Peter Levinson. This blog is my home on the Web and serves as a diary, a soap box, and a laboratory. It is constantly under construction, so don’t be surprised if things are broken or don’t look right. I’ve wanted to have a perfectly constructed site for a number of years now, but have effectively given up due to time and knowledge constraints. I do continue to work towards a more perfect blog and perhaps one day the site will be complete.
I live in San Francisco with my wife, daughter and two cats. We moved here in 2004 from New York City. I grew up in Massachusetts and attended Middlesex School and Trinity College where I double majored in Economics and Art History. After college I worked for a newspaper, a law firm and now a website. I first encountered the Web in the fall of 1994 as a freshman at Trinity. For the past 12 years it has been one of the dominant interests in my life, or as I said to a colleague in 2001, “I love the Internet.” I started this blog in 2000 after reading an article in the New Yorker. This blog has been powered by (in chronological order) Blogger, Movable Type, Blogger, Typepad, Movable Type and now WordPress (with a brief flirtation with TextPattern). Aside from the version that remains hosted at blogspot, no previous version of the templates I’ve used remains. The writing has a few holes from the 2001-2002 time period but is otherwise complete.
The Domain
I was given the nickname Levingar by a gentleman called Sandy Schmid. The circumstances and reasons for this nickname are privileged information.
